"A doctor!" That is what I would usually answer as a child when asked, “What do you want to be when you grow up?” I was never afraid of hospitals, even as a child. The moment I laid eyes on those white coats and realized how much a doctor's care could provide relief, comfort, and healing, I knew I wanted to be one. Looking back, I realize that my innocence and young age made me unaware of the other professions that help balance the healthcare industry.

As I grew older, I became aware of other professions in the field of medicine, such as nurses, surgeons, and pharmacists. When I started paying closer attention to medicine, that is when I learned about Radiologic Technologists. But even after learning about them, I never really aspired to be one. Imagine a Level 2 Radiologic Technology student saying that! Time truly has its own ways of revealing the things that are meant for you.

Long story short, I enrolled in this program and fell deeply in love with it instantly. After discovering all the contributions, improvements, and services Radiologic Technology provides, I knew this course was the one. I realized, it is the only thing I want to do for as long as my whole being allows.

As a student, my favorite misconception about this course is the one that goes, "Diba taga pindot lang kayo?" A radiologic technologist's job may look easy, but I am firm in saying there is always more to it. Radiologic Technologists are equipped with multiple skills that allow them to operate different radiologic machines, practice radiation safety, provide quality healthcare, and produce medically acceptable radiographic images, which are fundamental in diagnosing and treating patients. Just like any other profession, this one is equally noble and fulfilling to pursue. It is a profession that allows you to explore science and be artistic.

I cannot explain these sentiments to every person nor make everyone believe me, but take it from me—someone who was once unaware of it all. As student radiologic technologists, we are always taught to ensure symmetry, clarity, and accuracy. That is why I am sharing all this to help debunk misconceptions with honesty, accuracy, and clarity. For this profession, like others, is worth breaking misconceptions for.

And you know what else I want to say? There is so much beauty in seeing right through you!
